“I can confirm that MEP have worked for Poltair Homes since May 2022.  The project we have just completed is at Trecerus farm Padstow.

This consisted of 55 homes for Cornwall Council and all inspections were carried out by Arcadis on behalf of the Council.

Cornwall Council are very happy with the finished development and the quality of the homes that we have produced. MEP played a key role in helping us to successfully deliver the properties to a very high standard with minimal snagging. Their scope of works was for the mechanical and electrical package for all the properties. In addition to all associated electrical works within a package of this size they also carried out the street light connections.

The scheme design utilised Daikin air source heat pumps with a heating system and hot water .

From the design stage to installation, we found Steve and Nigel to be very proactive and professional in their approach. The standard of workmanship was all in accordance with the specification, plans and current legislation to a very high standard. They are also hot on QA paperwork for their first fix and second fix

They are qualified to design and test the ventilation system/fans and provide electrical testing certification. This made the handover stage of the plots seamless with a quick turnaround of the certification required for Building Control and Cornwall Council.

For reasons out of our control the Project was subject to a lengthy delay with the electric mains installation date. This put an immense amount of pressure on the site team to complete around 30 stock plot properties from the turn of the year to March 2024. The key to hitting these dates was all the contractors buying into a very fast-tracked programme at first and 2nd fix stage. MEP were the vital cog in the wheel as they were given the most amount to do in the shortest period. The pressure was on as they would be instrumental in getting the power on to the plots straight after National grid had laid the mains and made the plot connections. Then they had to move very quickly to get the heating turned on. The pace they moved at was incredible and the quality of workmanship did not suffer which can sometimes be the case. Its fair to say they passed the pressure test with flying colours !

Invariably with a scheme of this size there will always be aftercare issues. The air source heat pumps can be a source of teething problems until the homeowners have got used to them. The speed at which MEP have dealt with any aftercare issues raised has been very impressive and is a credit to Steve and Nigel.

It was a pleasure to work with MEP at Padstow and I am very much looking forward to working with them on our current scheme of 96 units at Newquay for Treveth.”
